Types Of Dentures
Dentures are a removable replacement for missing natural teeth. They can be full (complete), replacing all teeth or partial, replacing some teeth.
Complete Dentures
A "complete" or "full" denture replaces all the lost natural teeth and adjacent tissues in either the upper or lower jaw. If you have lost all of your natural teeth whether from gum disease, tooth decay or injury, complete dentures can replace your missing teeth and smile.
Complete tooth replacement provides support for your face especially around your mouth, lips and cheeks. Without denture support facial muscles sag, giving a person sunken features as well as an aged appearance.
Partial Dentures
Partial dentures replace one or more lost natural teeth. They can be constructed from different materials, gum coloured acrylic is used as is a metal/acrylic combination. The metals used can be gold, chrome cobalt alloy or titanium. All are ultra thin, light and very strong.
It is important to replace any natural teeth that are missing with a partial denture as this prevents remaining teeth rotating, tilting or moving into unsightly positions. Your smile will be restored along with your appearance being enhanced. Eating will be pleasurable and speech uninhibited.
